Ariel has served in his position since 2015
Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Uri Ariel submitted his resignation on Sunday.
In his letter of resignation, Ariel wrote to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: “Hope and pray that the next Minister of Agriculture, together with you, will continue to promote farmers and agriculture to the glory of the State of Israel.”
Ariel has served in his position since 2015, and as a member of Knesset (Israeli Parliament) since 2001.
According to the letter he sent to the prime minister, the resignation of Minister of Agriculture Ariel will come into effect towards the end of March.
Ariel is apparently resigning at the request of the prime minister, in order to prevent attempts to petition the newly appointed Defense Minister Naftali Bennett, claiming that there should be no increase in ministers at this current stage, according to Hebrew media.
In a conversation reportedly earlier this week, the outgoing minister reportedly expressed his appreciation for Netanyahu and thanked him for “all that has been done under your leadership.”
